Speaking of bunnies...

Just thought I'd share my latest art doll- The White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. He's almost done and ready to add to my etsy shop. Just a few last minute details and some pictures in the morning...

....must be nice

What a life... here's our bunny, well actually he belongs to our 4 year old granddaughter, but her interest in him lasts about a minute and a half. So as far as I'm concerned, he's ours. Anyway, here he is just lounging out and enjoying his day (while we run around cooking, doing laundry, cleaning his cage, etc.). It must be nice! Isn't he a cutie though? Such a nice bunny, doesn't bite or even nibble, a real sweetie :) Only problem is getting him back into his cage after he's had an afternoon of freedom- it's really quite an adventure :)

Red Riding Hood, Friends & One Foe....

I've been busy.... Lots of stuff to show you, but it's late and I'm tired so here's a real quick post to show you my latest painting. This one was fun, fun, fun and I'm so happy with the finished product!! I just added it to my etsy site tonight, and I'm hoping somebody else will like it as much as I do. We shall see....

I'll post more tomorrow so tune in then :)

Spring Cleaning

My art work has gotten a little side tracked these days. We had a gorgeous week last week- mid to high 60's all week long. I just couldn't help but start some spring cleaning. My studio is getting a major overhaul, so everything is topsy turvy. Hoping to finish the cleaning soon and get back to work in a very neat and organized work space (ha.. that'll last for about a week :).

Anyway, I did finish this one painting. I started it on a whim and I'm not sure if I'll end up doing anything with it. I guess I was inspired by the beautiful weather last week, that just happened to follow a terribly stormy weekend. I was reminded that storms pass- no matter how nasty they are, the sun eventually ends up shining again. It really works the same way in our lives. Sometimes it just feels like there's a dark, nasty storm cloud hanging over you, then one day you wake up and realize that it's gone and life starting to look kind of bright again. This little painting is just a reminder of that fact. Things may get gray and dreary, but the sun will eventually shine ...

Wonderland Gang - so far....

Well, the gang's all here... I'm finally done with my cheshire cat and little miss Alice (except to finish her stockings). I'm hoping to get some good pictures today and get them posted to etsy. However, it's raining and not likely to stop, so it doesn't look like I'll be able to go outside to get my pictures, which is not a good thing. I'm a terrible photographer and I can never manage decent indoor pictures. Might have to wait til tomorrow- we'll see.... anyway, they'll be posted soon. The Queen of Hearts is already in my etsy shop, although I'll probably renew her at the same time I post the others. Next project is the white rabbit. I can't wait to get started :) ....

Thank You Greeniemarie

Yay!!! One of my best art prints ("Ballet Recital") has been included in a lovely treasury that was created by greeniemarie (a very talented fellow etsian). Amazingly, she also included 4 other pieces of my work in 4 other treasuries over the past month. Take a look at her latest treasury ("La La Lovely") at : http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=117772

While you're at it, check out greeniemarie's creations at http://www.greeniemarie.etsy.com/ . I especially love her art bears..... sooo unique.

ANYWAY - on a happier note - my son bought me an awesome, giant "Alice in Wonderland" story/coloring book. You know, the really nice kind that you're seriously afraid to color in... Of course, between the coloring book and the new movie release I've been inspired to work on an "Alice in Wonderland" doll series. Here's a photo of my Alice. The unfortunate thing is that after I took the photo, I decided that she might look nice with an antique finish- WRONG. Now she's entirely too dark and I'm gonna have to start a new one. What a disappointment!

yuks....and other stuff

Well, the little bird that I mentioned in my last post didn't fly :-( I just wasn't happy with him, so I made a new one and now I'm pretty sure I'm unhappy with that one as well - I think I'm going through the "yuks"- ya know, the "WILL THIS WINTER EVER END?" blues :(

A Little Bird for Spring

Not sure if this will fly...(pardon the pun :) but here's a little project I began yesterday. I didn't really have a plan, but I have this great old doily that's pretty stained. No matter what I try, I can't budge any of the stains. It has 6 hand embroidered tulips on it and I can't bear to let it go to waste. So I cut out the tulips and figured I'd come up with some creative way to use them. here's one of my ideas ... a little spring bird. She isn't finished and I cant decide what to do for her legs, so I'll set her aside for a while until I come up with something. I think she's kinda neat and a little different. If she turns out well, then I just may use the rest of the tulips to create an entire family for her... we'll see...

Check Him Out....

Isn't he the cutest? He's one of those vintage Christmas ornaments made in Japan. Picked him up at a flea market for a quarter! My kids just think he's creepy (keep in mind these are adult & near adult children). I just think he's adorable. He doesn't look like Christmas, so I think I'll have him hanging out year round in my studio to keep me company :)

Latest Project

Here's my latest creation- almost finished, just have to add some arms. I'm hoping to finish her up this morning and get some pictures after I have some daylight. If all goes as planned she should be hitting my etsy shop by tonight....
My previous doll was Leonard the Kindly Lion (you can see him in my etsy shop). I think I've got a theme going here, I'm considering a "jungle buddies" series....

....and more snow

Try, Try, Again...

Well, it seems I dropped the ball on this blogging thing- again. Social networking is a little tough for me to get used to. HOWEVER, I'm gonna give it another shot. Been working hard on my wee~mee dollies over the past few weeks, in between shoveling snow. Lots and lots of snow....
